Red Hook Volunteers is dedicated to recovery and reconstruction of the Red Hook community after Hurricane Sandy. When their original database administrator left the organization, they lost access their extensive database. They needed help re-establishing access to their database, learning how to use it and creating reports.
The Community Corps and Citi arranged a single-day consulting event bringing together eight teams of Citi volunteers and eight unique nonprofit clients to provide free, customized technology assistance. One group of Citi consultants helped Red Hook Volunteers access their existing database and taught them to create reports to use the database effectively.
The Citi team researched the database, contacted the vendor to determine procedures to gain access, helped the organization re-engage with the vendor, taught staff members to use some of the advanced database functions and helped them create reports to respond to New York City requests for information.
